De Document Imaging SDK/ActiveX is gebaseerd op Black Ice-technologie die al vele jaren door klanten wordt gebruikt in producten zoals TIFF SDK/ActiveX, Annotation SDK/ActiveX en Image SDK/ActiveX, maar bevat ook veel nieuwe functies die exclusief voor het document zijn ontwikkeld. Imaging SDK/ActiveX-product. Document Imaging SDK/ActiveX is een softwareontwikkelingstool waarmee applicatieontwikkelaars en programmeurs applicaties kunnen maken met geavanceerde beeldverwerkingsmogelijkheden. De SDK werkt op elk Windows-besturingssysteem, van Windows Server 2003 tot Windows 95 en omdat het zowel C/C++-bibliotheken als ActiveX-besturingselementen bevat, is de functionaliteit van het product toegankelijk vanuit de meeste programmeertalen zoals C, C++, Visual Basic, Delphi, MS FoxPro en MS Access. Document Imaging SDK/ActiveX is ook .NET-compatibel, wat betekent dat VB.NET-, C#- en J#-programmeurs ook volledig kunnen profiteren van het product.
